A PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor can conduct a wide range of PADI programs, from PADI Discover Scuba Diving to the PADI Divemaster Course.

The foundation of PADI instructor development is the instructor development course (IDC) held by a PADI Course Director. The IDC consists of the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program.

The Instructor Development Course (IDC) is made up of two parts - the Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor (OWSI) program. Most dive professionals complete the entire IDC and go on to attend an Instructor Examination (IE), which is the final step to earn a PADI Instructor certification. Trainings may or may not be conducted in a continuous manner depending on your schedule.

The PADI Assistant Instructor Course is the first part of the PADI Instructor Development Course (IDC). This course not only gives you experience as a PADI Professional, it is also the first step in learning the PADI Diver Education System.

The PADI OWSI Program is the final step to becoming a PADI Instructor. During this course, you will learn to adapt each student's needs using the PADI Diver Education System. With comprehensive training and diverse materials, you'll also gain a lot of trust from your colleagues and students.
